Spring, italic letters based on the forms in John Skelton’s book “ Skelton’s Alphabet Workbook “. The V incised letters are finished with a herringbone chiselled pattern, which the artist first noticed on a Skelton inscription back in 1990.

Christopher meet John Skelton in 1998 at his home to interview him for an essay he was writing on lettercutters post Eric Gill.

Christopher studied at Reigate School of Art and Design, followed by a degree in calligraphy at Roehampton. Letter drawing and lettercutting was taught to him by Tom Perkins.
