The letters are part woven and part sewn, the forms being built up with and eccentric warp  

ie not horizontally backwards and forwards as is usual in weaving.

Sue Hufton studied calligraphy at the Roehampton Institute.  She went on to study the details of letter drawing and letter carving with Tom Perkins.  For six years she was one of the main scribes of the Saint John’s Bible. Her work ranges from large panels to small manuscript books using a variety of materials. Her work is in the collections of the V&A and the Crafts Study Centre.
